I knew there was a reason I didn't buy a Pacojet. I was saving my money for this badass liquid nitrogen ice cream machine. Well, that and the fact that I couldn't afford a Pacojet anyway.

It kind of looks like a kitchenaid on steroids with a LN hose. I'd like one...

Hey man, figured this would be the best way to post an intro since it's the most recent thing you got up. I stumbled upon your (original) blog when looking for some Gary Peller info last year--you'd be surprised how high up on google the site was. It's been pretty fun seeing you advance by leaps and bounds in terms of your techniques. I actually transferred to Stanford this year (east coast is not really for me) and am enjoying the food scene out here thus far. I'd love to see you put up a couple reviews, if you've got the time. Have you made it out to Manresa yet?

Hi Secular Gastronomy. I've done some serious dining around the Bay Area, and I have posted a couple reviews. Check the "Restaurants" category (accessible through the side bar). These days, I've been feeling silly taking pictures in restaurants, so I haven't been doing it. I've done some pretty notable Bay Area dining in the last year, but I just don't think there's any point to posting food reviews without pictures. But here, I'll give you quick summaries: French Laundry: good. Cyrus: good. Coi: great. Quince: boring. Ame: good. One Market: good value. Boulevard: okay. Nopa: great. Bar Crudo: good. Orson: not good. Absinthe: good when eating at the bar. Meadowwood: eating there this weekend, I'll let you know. I'm missing lots of places that I can't think of right now.
I haven't been to Manresa yet. I once had reservations and then had to cancel. Manresa and Ubuntu are at the top of my list, but I couldn't persuade Jeanette's family to eat at Ubuntu on any of their multiple visits, and Manresa is in the wrong direction from SF for their plans.
