For an interesting look into how normal people reason reason their way through a legislative issue (I tried very hard to write that in a nice way), watch this video with excerpts from the Alabama State House Of Representatives' debate over whether to raise the legal limit for alcohol content in beers. Currently, Alabama state law prevents most so-called gourmet beers from being sold. But if you're just in it for the funny stuff, head to about 5:20 into the video.
