Back in December, I was invited by my suave Brazilian friend Dan Mano to an event that he hosts every year, "The Turducken." A Turducken is the most ridiculous poultry dish you will ever see in your life: it is loosely defined, but centered around the concept of a chicken which is stuffed inside of a duck which is stuffed inside of a turkey. Dan decided to put a different layer of stuffing in between each bird in his version, 1 layer of sausage stuffing, 1 layer of shrimp stuffing, and 1 layer of cornbread stuffing. The finished product was amazing. All of the meats were juicy, each lending their own flavor. The duck added a nice peppery flavor to the whole thing, and I brought a bottle of Nine Stones Shiraz, which paired well with the poultry. My roommate Josh called on his experience working at Smoothie King and made a few smoothie blends and brought them in a cooler for everyone to share. The potluck atmosphere was a lot of fun, and hopefully Dan was able to recoup some costs (a Turducken is rather expensive to make), as he probably fed close to 40 people on the Turducken alone. Afterwards a group gathered upstairs to play some Nintendo Wii (pictured) and let the tryptophan set in. The photos are below.
